Richard Hedony, mainly known as Rick, is a supporting character in the Spooky Month series.

He is a man who has worked as a store clerk, a movie theater ticket agent, a mail handler, CandyClub employee, and chauffeur.

Not much is known about him, outside of a somber and depressed attitude and a careless work performance.

Biography[]

Spooky Month 3 - Unwanted Guest[]

Rick makes his first debut in the show in this episode, working at GENSOMOORU. He notices Skid and Pump, and states that they were too young to buy anything here... but the kids are confident that they were old enough as well as having enough money to purchase a Happy Fella. Seeing their Halloween costumes, Rick asks if they knew that it is June (instead of October), making the kids snicker. He deadpans.

Spooky Month 4 - Deadly Smiles[]

Now working at the movie theaters, Rick recognises Skid and Pump at the counter. It is revealed that Rick changed jobs (or got fired) as "[he] sold beer to kids because [he] got tired of breathing." When Skid asks for tickets for a horror movie, Rick declines; when Pump asks for tickets for a kid's movie, Rick backs down and answers with sure, and the kids sneak into the horror movie section.

Radford notices and asks Rick if he knew that it was his turn to take the tickets and that children can sneak in if he didn't. When Rick acknowledges it, Radford stresses that Rick will get into trouble. Rick takes off his badge, and exclaims that he is tired.

Spooky Month 5 - Tender Treats[]

Rick, working at the CandyClub, does his task of restocking candy while Kevin talked with Carmen. Although Rick agrees helping Kevin with Carmen's order, he is displeased when Carmen demands them to hurry up.

He goes back and forth with boxes, and when he notices Bob pull out a fillet knife, Rick quits on the spot, much to Kevin's dismay. Rick appears again when Kevin orders Skid and Pump out, asking if Kevin deals with customers like them and Carmen every day. He is not fazed when a passerby reports children stealing from the store, remaining still as Kevin rushes back in.

Spooky Month: Hollow Sorrows[]

Rick begins a new job as a chauffeur for Mayor Evermore (and Garcia). Rick is already annoyed with Evermore who ordered him to clean up Skid and Pump's saliva on the car window, and had demands to be referred as "Mister Mayor Evermore."

While waiting for Mayor Evermore and Garcia to finish their business talk with The Hobomen, Rick is nearly attacked by Moloch, who roars and glares at him with bright eyes. Rick is unfazed, commenting that it's too bright while pulling down the car's sunshades. Moloch is taken back and while running away from Father Gregor, tramples the vehicle.

Although Rick comes out of the car safely, he once again quits on the spot.

Spooky Short - Kevin's Dream Job[]

Rick makes a very brief appearance in Kevin's Dream Job. It is a recap of the events occurred in Tender Treats with a bonus scene of Rick applying for the job and carrying the bag of candy out for Carmen.

Rick is a tall, overweight man with brown hair, thin mustache, droopy eyes, and the uniform of the job he is currently working at.

Outside of his uniforms, Rick's default outfit is a red shirt with blue pants.

Personality[]

Rick is depicted very careless and emotionless, if not apathetic. Because of his cynical view of life in general, Rick does not do well with maintaining jobs, with hardly any effort and immediately quitting if any inconveniences crosses him. As a result of his apathy, he is generally unfazed in the face of danger, only responding with small annoyance at most.

Trivia[]

  • The surname "Hedony" is one of fiction and is possibly derived from the word hedonism/hedonist which is, ironically, defined as the pursuit of pleasure or someone is a pleasure-seeker.
  • In a Spooky Month merch video, it's revealed that Rick smiling is his resting face, signifying he's never smiled normally.
  • Rick and Radford appear to regularly drink together.[1][2]
  • In a Spooky Month fan server, Sr Pelo has stated in a Q&A:
    • Rick does not have depression.[3]
    • While he knows Kevin and Radford as coworkers, Rick does not have any friends.[3][4]
